»Kentucky Rain«

acrylic on corduroy,
2003,
71 x 50 x 4,5 cm

In 2003 I had no permanent studio. I was very eager to continue with my series of paintings called „America“. America as the place of a positive energy and longing that was very present in peoples minds, at least at that time. I rented a room as a studio for one month and continued my work. One day I noticed that the corduroy trouser I was wearing was falling apart. I went back home, got me another trouser and used the corduroy trouser as a canvas with this painting. At that time I was listening to „Kentucky Rain“ from Elvis Presles all the time. It’s one of my favourite songs from Elvis. So this painting is called „Kentucky Rain“.
